F.A.Q.
Q. I'm in doubt of my size? What size should I get?
A. Your best bet is to read the examples provided in each item description. If in doubt, go up a size, never go down a size. An exchange is always an easy option.

Q. Why are your boot prices are so low compared to Faire vendors with similar boots?
A. We do not have nearly the overhead or travel expenses as street/faire vendors. In addition many times they are the craftsman and need to recoup their labor costs. They are to be respected & they most likely have a fair price for the time they have invested. We sell in volumes & have them made overseas so the cost is simply lower for our consumer. We sell a great price/value product that is affordable to the general public. If you are looking to pay $200-$700 for boots, you won't find them here. Our highest non-sale price is $179.

Q. What is the most generous boot in calf & thigh for larger men?
A. Definitely the Sir Henry's.

Q. Can you custom make boots for me or alter them in any way?
A. Sorry, we can not custom make/order boots. In order to keep prices low & reasonable for everyone we can not do custom work.

Q. Which pair is most authentic looking for costuming?
A. The "Robin" or the "Sir Henry" boots as they do not have a zipper.

Q. Which pair is best for a Santa Costume?
A. Definitely the Sir Henry's.

Q. How much is shipping?
A. Please see our shipping policies page.

Q: What is the difference between the Big John's & the Sir Henry's
A: The Big John & Sir Henry's are very similar, but do have differences. The below info should help.

  • The Sir Henry is fuller/larger through the calf & thigh and it has a rear stretch panel behind knee.
  • The Big John is taller.
  • The Big John has a zipper, the Sir Henry does not.
  • The Sir Henry has a "bit more of a pointed toe" than the "more rounded" Big John.
  • The Sir Henry has a bit more fitted toe box & is therefore better for "action use" such as jousting or fighting.
  • The Big John's have a taller toe box and is a touch wider through the ball of the foot.
  • The Big John's are made of a bit thicker & more supple leather than the Sir Henry's but this fact changes nothing as far as function.
  • Both can be worn as thigh boots or folded as knee boots.
  • Both shoes fit differently, so please do read the description of each carefully. (The Big John's run small, whereas the Sir Henry's are quite generous & true to size.)

Both have nice features and are very similar in looks, the differences are mainly about the toe box, the overall height & the leather itself.

Q. What does SCA stand for?
A. The SCA in our logo & web address stands for the Stuart Corporation of America. We are a family company and Stuart is our family name. Many folks think it stands for the "Society for the Creative Anachronism" as we serve many of it's members. However, we are compelely independent of that exceptionally fantastic organization. If you would like to know more about them, we strongly advise you visit their informative website at www.sca.org
