| (Please select your size for notes/availability.) Like most of our boots, our Big John's are quite versatile boots. Whether you are into SCA, renaissance, LARP, pirating, steampunk etc., these boots can carry you through. Wear em' upright, scrunch em', fold em'! We sell dozens of this style boot for wedddings & theatre productions! A friendly client told us "With one pair of socks and suprisingly thin soles, I wore 35 pounds of chain maile for several hours while walking on uneven and rocky and lumpy ground - no pavement at a Ren' Faire! My feet did not complain at all." As you can imagine...that made our day!!
Durable black leather boots feature soft fabric lining, 7" inside ankle zipper for easy on/off and a flat extra durable rubber grip sole with 1" heel. Boots can be worn upright or folded for a variety of looks. Fold/cuff height is 5". Boot has a "u" cut-out at top back of boot for easier walking. These only come in black & medium width whole sizes only.
IMPORTANT SIZING GUIDELINES: The overwhelming feedback we are getting so far on this new cut is to order the size you normally wear. If you are a solid 1/2 size, go up. You can wear a gel insole or an extra pair of socks to take up any slack. Please keep in mind if you are inbetween sizes or in doubt, the general rule of thumb in the footwear industry is to go up in size, not down. Calf is taken at mid calf, boot height is measured fully upright and of course will shorten if you fold them. Thigh is measured across the top of boot. Please check the measurements below to be sure this will work for your size calves, thigh, etc. If your not sure what size to get after reading the below example, please contact us for help.
EXAMPLE:
If you wear a solid 10.5 go up to an 11. If you wear a 12, you'll need a 12. Don't let the sole length complicate things.
Please note: We do offer the measurement of the boots although it is NOT the best way to fit your foot. Because your foot will change in arch, shape and size if you measure them standing as opposed to sitting ect., we highly recommend not using the sole length or width etc. Also, don't try to measure your own footwear for sole length because different styles of shoes have different "over hangs" ect. It simply is the least efficient way to fit yourself. Trust us, we've been doing this for several years now. Thus, the best way is to use the example above. However, if we don't include the measurements, people want them. Please do use the above example as your primary method of selecting your size and you'll be much more satisfied. Thank you.
